In order to observe a hearing, you must submit a written request to the office of the National Parole Board in the region where the hearing will take place. A Victim Liaison Officer at your local CSC office will help you obtain an application form. The form should be filled out and submitted as far in advance of the hearing as possible (preferably 30 days) to allow the application to be processed and to conduct a security check on you.
On the Observer Application Form you will be asked why you want to attend the hearing. Respond truthfully. You can simply say that you are interested in the parole process or in hearing about the programs that the offender is participating in. You must also supply personal information (date of birth, address and telephone number) and agree to a security screening in order to be allowed to enter the institution.
