Conditional Sentence

This is a type of sentence available to adults who are sentenced to less than two years in prison. At the order of the sentencing judge, the offender may serve the sentence in the community subject to supervision and compliance with specified conditions. Breach of the conditions can result in the offender being admitted to prison to serve all or a set portion of the remaining sentence. [Victims often feel insulted and angry when a plea for a conditional sentence is made and the offender is spared a prison sentence.]
