What concerns are there about these programs?

It is important that you ask lots of questions about the program before you become involved. Proceed with caution.

  • Will the process be helpful or harmful to your healing?

  • Can the offender use participation in the program as a plus for himself or herself at a future parole hearing or review?

  • How does the program determine if the victim is ready to participate?

  • What kind of preparation is there for victims and offenders?

  • How does the program determine the motivation of the offender and the victim?
