What happens to the case after the police investigation is completed?


After the police investigation is completed you may be frustrated and feel that you are “in limbo” when nothing further seems to happen before the trial. There may have been good communication between the police and the medical examiner and you. You may have felt very informed. Then it may seem as if there is a breakdown in communications. 

It may take a very long time for a Crown attorney to be assigned to the case. This is dependent on what Crown attorneys are available and how much time they have to prepare the case.
