A statement is a chronological description of the events (the series of events in order of when they happened) and your role in it. You may be asked to give a statement as a witness or as a family member.
To remember:
When you are interviewed, it is important to know whether you are being questioned as a witness or as a suspect. Ask the police officers and act accordingly.
